2023 Dam Short Film Festival Poster
Brief: The creative team of the Dam Short Film Festival held a poster contest to advertise their annual film festival. The design needed to feature images or illustrations of the Hoover Dam and/or landscape of Southern Nevada/Boulder City, along with specific copy to address the basic details of the event, such as the event title, location, and date.
Solution: Being given complete creative control on this project, I wanted to create a poster in one of my favorite art styles of minimalism. In honor of the world finally opening back up after the COVID-19 pandemic, I also wanted the design to feature the imagery of people being able to come together and watch films together like in the good old days.
Throughout the summer, one of the songs that defined my seasonal playlist was "That That" by Korean pop singer, PSY. The album cover of the song went on to inspire the warm and Western-themed color schemes and typography of my poster design; ultimately bringing the overall layout to life. My entry went on to proudly tie for third place in the 2023 Dam Short Film Festival Poster Contest.
